New and Improved Decorah High School Weight Room Now Complete
Thanks to the incredible support of our community and donors, the Decorah High School weight room renovation is now complete—and it's a game changer for our student-athletes.
Over the summer, the space underwent a full transformation. Outdated equipment was cleared out, walls were freshly repainted, and the entire layout was redesigned to support the growing needs of both athletic training and physical education. The newly finished facility now features 15 modern training stations—up from the previous 12—along with upgraded weights, benches, and supporting equipment.
“Highlights of this project will include 15 new training stations with new weights, benches and supporting equipment. This is an increase from 12 stations, which will help accommodate increased usage of the room for both our strength and conditioning classes as well as morning and evening training sessions [for athletes]. New flooring and signage in the room were also be part of the project,” said Activities Director Adam Riley.
These improvements reflect the evolving landscape of high school athletics, where students are starting strength and conditioning at earlier ages. The updated space is already being used daily by athletes and students alike for early morning sessions, in-school classes, and evening workouts.
This project would not have been possible without the generosity of our supporters. We extend our sincere thanks to Brynsaas Sales and Service, Decorah Bank & Trust, Olson Explosives Inc. (Mark and Jenny Olson), Toppling Goliath, Wicks Construction, and especially the Decorah Viking Athletic Booster Club members who made this vision a reality.
